Tornado Warning Procedures

A tornado warning is an alert by the National Weather Service confirming a tornado sighting and location. The National Weather Service will announce the approximate time of detection and direction of movement. Wind will be 75 miles per hour or greater.

Property Management will make an announcement over the public address system if tornado warnings are announced. Please take the following actions:

  1. Stay away from the perimeter of the building and exterior glass.

  2. Leave your exterior office and close the door.

  3. Go to the central corridor of the building.

  4. Sit down in the corridor and protect yourself by putting your head down as close to your lap as possible or kneel protecting your head.

  5. Do not go to the Main Lobby or outside the building.

If you are in transit in the building

  1. Go to the central corridor of the building; do not try to return to your office area.

  2. Sit down in the corridor and protect yourself by putting you head down as close to your lap as possible or kneel protecting your head.

  3. Do not go to the Main Lobby or outside the building.

If you remain in your office and it is located along an exterior building wall, seek protection under a desk or conference table.

You will be given further instructions over the public address system. Building employees and/or emergency personnel will arrive with help as soon as possible.
